Elviria – the nearest beaches
The beaches of Elviria lie right at the foot of the mountains below La Mairena. Real de Zaragoza, La Víbora and Las Chapas almost run into one another and offer fine golden sand, sunbeds for hire and plenty of beach restaurants, known as chiringuitos.
Cabopino and the dunes
A little further east is the beach at Cabopino with the protected Dunas de Artola dunes. It's one of the few places on the Costa del Sol where the coastline still looks the way it did before the building boom. Right next to it is the small marina with its restaurants.
With children: La Cala de Mijas
If you're travelling with young children, El Bombo and La Cala in La Cala de Mijas are good choices. There are play areas on the beach and a pleasant seafront promenade with cafés and ice cream.
